The shop is on the fourth floor of the Tamatebako-kan, right in the heart of the Matushima tourist area, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan and a Michelin Guide 3-star destination.
From here you can gaze at the beautiful Matsushima Bay through large windows situated right across from the sightseeing pier. The main tourist attractions, Godaido, Kanrantei teahouse, and Zuiganji Temple are all within a ten-minute walk.
The building stands on the historic site of the Kyunosuke Inn (previously Atsutaya), where Matsuo Basho stayed when he visited Matsushima by way of the “Oku no Hosomichi” (Narrow Road to the Deep North) in 1689.
Be sure to come to Ume Luv to experience incredible views and the fun of wearing a kimono.
